Selected to be a part of the first class of Space Shuttle astronauts in 1978, Guion "Guy" Bluford, Jr., Ph.D., became the first African-American to fly in space on STS-8 in 1983. Joining him on that mission were 260,000 postal covers, flown on behalf of United States Postal Service.

Our exclusive Guy Bluford STS-8 Frame Set (22-1/2" x 16") features a flown cover, canceled for the first day of issue of the $9.35 Express Mail stamp, as well as for the date of the launch and landing of the flight. This flown cover is matted (with acid free mats) and archivally framed in a unique presentation which includes an autographed original NASA lithograph of Dr. Bluford, the STS-8 mission and Space Shuttle program emblem cloisonne (label) pins, and a descriptive plaque.
